STRATEGIC PRIORITY 1 INSPIRATIONAL LEADERSHIP We invest in authentic and passionate leaders to drive our business forward in challenging and rapidly-changing times.

5

We recognise that the success of our 2030 strategy depends on cultivating a high performance culture where our values are central to both staff and student experiences. We understand that the behaviours and skills of our leaders play a crucial role in shaping Hartpury’s culture and the experiences we provide to our employees. We are committed to ensuring that our leaders are visible, approachable, and lead with consistency and transparency, fostering an environment of trust and support.

To achieve this, we will: 1.1. Develop our leaders, at all levels, to equip them with skills, knowledge and resilience to thrive in an ever-evolving environment. 1.2. Cultivate our leaders to be role models for their own development, external networking, and collaborative working, driving this approach through their teams. 1.3. Create an environment where authentic leadership is celebrated and where passion, empathy, and motivation are demonstrated by all leaders. 1.4. Create a community of people leaders who have the competence and confidence to coach people and develop innovative and creative solutions; building an environment where staff are engaged and trusted to deliver. 1.5. Empower our leaders to have professional curiosity and to contribute to strategic projects and initiatives outside of their own areas of expertise.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2 INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY We are values-driven, creating an inclusive, respectful and compassionate community.

7

2.3. Develop our estate to enable meaningful hybrid working, creating purpose driven spaces where colleagues can come together to collaborate on solving challenges through collective learning and informed risk taking. 2.4. Ensure our values and behaviours are visible and promoted in everything we do and reflected in all actions and decision making. 2.5. Regularly cascade information so our staff and students feel included, informed, and involved as citizens of Hartpury. 2.6. Ensure staff and students feel safe and empowered to call out inappropriate behaviours through mechanisms for reporting, investigating and delivering balanced judgements to uphold our values and behaviours framework.

We recognise the benefits of having an inclusive community which extends beyond Hartpury. We are committed to cultivating a diverse and welcoming environment for our staff and students. To achieve this, we will: 2.1. Build an enabling environment which supports the diverse needs of our staff, students, and stakeholders but looks outwards to understand the systemic barriers to diversity and inclusivity, driving meaningful change. 2.2. Seek to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy and empower staff for a more agile and responsive workforce that embraces digital transformation.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 3 BELONGING We are an ‘employer of choice’, where everyone’s voice and needs are heard and respected.

9

We will continue to build our vision as an ‘employer of choice’. We will attract and retain an outstanding community of people with relevant expertise, organisational values and strong leadership skills who are enabled to work in an environment that supports and motivates them to do their best work in order to achieve our shared goals.

To achieve this, we will: 3.1. Adopt agile working approaches that create opportunities whilst recognising differences within our workforce. 3.2. Design our estate to enable staff to work effectively and productively with processes and systems that are lean and digitally enabled to make our lives easier. 3.3. Foster a supportive culture of performance and excellence by clear goal-setting and ongoing performance conversations between leaders and their staff, ensuring workloads are reasonable and achievable. 3.4. Provide a competitive and equitable total reward approach to meet the diverse needs of our staff and to improve their working lives, weaving social value and purpose through the entire employee lifecycle. 3.5. Amplify the voice of our staff and ensure that everyone is listened to, encouraged to contribute their lived experiences and share new ideas to make the workplace the best it can be.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 4 WELLBEING

We promote a safe environment that boosts wellbeing, innovation, creativity and productivity.

11

To achieve this, we will: 4.1. Inspire and encourage openness to champion good physical and emotional wellbeing where staff and students proactively seek out support to engage with self-care. 4.2. Promote an inclusive place, with dedicated social spaces, that boosts wellbeing and connectivity and where all feel safe and well at work and study. 4.3. Enable staff and students to be more resilient at managing stressful and challenging situations, and to thrive in the face of adversity. 4.4. Celebrate the success of both individuals and teams outside of the formal reward process to remind ourselves of the importance of acknowledging outstanding performance and behaviours. 4.5. Place wellbeing at the heart of the entire employee and student journey, supporting and inspiring our people to look after their health and wellbeing and that of others in the wider Hartpury community.

We recognise the importance of enabling our people to bring their whole selves to work or study so they can perform at their very best. We are deeply committed to supporting the wellbeing of our people, understanding the value of self-care, showing kindness, and compassionate leadership. These principles are central to our approach and are a top priority.

13

We are dedicated to inspiring the next generation by nurturing potential, developing, and empowering our staff to embrace opportunities for both personal and professional growth. By fostering an environment of support and reflection, we will facilitate knowledge transfer, ensuring our staff flourish while strengthening our organisation for the future.

To achieve this, we will: 5.1. Develop future-fit skills and the right mindset to thrive in a changing world to deliver outstanding and industry-led teaching which enhances the student and staff experience. 5.2. Encourage staff to take accountability for accessing the development they require to be the best they can be. 5.3.
