Our mission is to deliver outstanding University and College education in land-based, sport and related disciplines, to equip our students with real-world skills for the benefit of local, regional, national and global communities.
HARTPURY 2030 MISSION
Hartpury College will be the UK’s leading provider of land-based and sports education, delivering high quality provision that integrates technical, digital, and sustainability skills. Focused on industry needs and future trends, we will prepare students for lifelong success, empowering them to make valuable contributions to the industries we serve, supporting local, regional, and national skills priorities and fostering economic growth through financially sustainable practices.

Thriving on a continuous and relentless focus on improvement, and with students always at the heart of decisions, Hartpury College is currently rated as Ofsted Outstanding in all areas for academic and curriculum-related provision (May 2018 and March 2024), as well as for our residential services (November 2024). The College is committed to maintaining strong industry connectivity, a key aspect woven into all our programmes. This ensures we meet industry skills demands while equipping students with the abilities needed to support the sectors we serve, as recognised by the March 2024 Ofsted judgement of making a ‘strong’ contribution to local, regional, and national skills needs.
As a designated specialist land-based education provider, Hartpury College has a long and established history of delivering a high quality sport, land-based and A-Level provision on a local, regional, and national scale. In September 2018, the organisation evolved
to become a single-site University and College, creating a unique establishment within the sector and providing several strategic and operational benefits to the student experience. The dual academic and sporting pathway, incorporating our Sports Academy model, is exceptional, supporting recruitment and providing opportunities for established and developing athletes alike. This Academic Strategy sets out our ambitions for Hartpury College as we look towards 2030, acknowledging the continuously changing educational and political landscape, coupled with the transformation and evolution of the sectors that we serve. 1.1. Ensure highly effective, flexible, and dynamic qualification choice and curriculum design. 1.2. Further develop our exceptional teaching approach that enthuses and motivates students, helping them make considerable progress in learning and skills development to reach their full potential. 1.3. Inspire, nurture and support students to perform to their potential and increase their social mobility. 1.4. Foster a genuine partnership approach to an industry-co-created and supported curriculum. 1.5. Ensure the holistic development of our students to provide a platform to support lifelong success. 1.6. STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2 PEOPLE We are committed to fostering and strengthening collaborative partnerships with students, staff, parents/carers, employers, other industry professionals and representative bodies, educational providers, and other key stakeholders. Together, we share a common goal and dedication to support the growth and success of our students, staff, and the economy.

Enrich the lives of our staff and students by cultivating strong, reciprocal, and meaningful relationships and partnerships within the industries we serve, as well as with our educational and professional partners, parents, and the broader community at local, regional, and national levels. 2.4. Commit to broadening and diversifying our portfolio provision where it is financially viable to do so in support of overall business resilience.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 3 PLACE We will further develop our campus to
accommodate a full-time student population of over 2,100, a growing part-time apprenticeship population, and further potential growth through partnership opportunities and commercialisation.

3.1. Develop sector-leading, industry-relevant specialist resources to support high-quality land-based, sport and A-level provision. 3.2. Achieve financial growth and resilience through a targeted approach to local, regional, national, and international recruitment, and mix and balance of provision. 3.3. Contribute to local, regional, and national skills priorities in support of national economic growth and Gloucestershire’s Economic Strategy. 3.4. Strategically continue to develop our well established, industry-aligned curriculum that is focused primarily on sport and land-based specialist provision. 3.5. Continue to work with industry and our employer representative body to review skills needs and alignment of provision.
