YOUR GUIDE TO HARTPURY UNIVERSITY

Hartpury and Covid-19 Covid-19 has seen us all adapting to new routines and ways of doing things. Over the last year we’ve delivered a mix of online and Covid-secure campus-based teaching whenever the UK government has allowed. Our small class sizes and 360-hectare rural campus, where lots of learning takes place outdoors, have made this possible. In spite of the changes to teaching and student life, many of our students have been able to carry on doing the activities they love around campus. Student support Our outstanding support services – voted top 10 in the UK in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2020 – are still doing a brilliant job. Pre-recorded and flexible online sessions have been available to suit our students’ schedules. Additional IT and library support have helped students get more out of their study time. Thousands of online ebooks and journals, a tightly scheduled click-and-collect reservation system and the postal service enabled students to have the learning materials when they needed them. Looking forward to September We’re optimistic that life will have returned to its new normal by enrolment in September, but you can rest assured that we’re planning for all scenarios, to ensure we’re able to effectively deliver teaching and assessments in line with any restrictions.

We’ll keep you updated regularly as government guidance changes to ensure you know exactly what to expect when you join us.

“Hartpury student life is still great, even during the

YOUR GUIDE TO HARTPURY UNIVERSITY

The heart of Hartpury

We love our campus and all the things that make it individual. There is always something exciting happening here. Each morning, students ride horses, look after the animals on our farm, train for their sports matches or take a walk or jog in our beautiful grounds. During the day, the campus is busy as students meet for a coffee or get together for a study session. There might also be an international equine competition, or a high-profile rugby match taking place right here. By evening, Legends Bar is where the action is – or if you prefer you can relax and look out over the beautiful English countryside as the sun goes down. Of course, our students also venture outside of campus, experiencing everything our vibrant country has to offer – see pages 21-23.

When you arrive at Hartpury University

you’ll notice we’re not the average British university.

Our rural 360-hectare campus is surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It can be hard to believe you’re close to some of the UK’s most exciting cities and historic towns. On campus, you can meet meerkats, watch international-level sport, play golf or take a long walk or ride – all without leaving the grounds. As a Hartpury student, this campus will play a big role in your daily life. It’s where you’ll make friends, play sport and socialise. You’re also likely to live here during your first year – turn to page 28 to find out more about our accommodation. Importantly, our campus is also where you’ll study, grow your knowledge and shape your future.

Myexperienceworking in the UK “In my first month at Hartpury, I became a student ambassador, which was my first ever paid job. Finding a job at Hartpury is not difficult. The Innovation Careers and Enterprise team is a great help, especially if you have a specific area of interest. I’ve received great advice from them about career options and temporary jobs and placements. Working while you’re studying helps you develop new skills. My current work as a student ambassador relates to marketing, which is a field I had no previous experience in. It’s allowed me to boost my CV. As an international student, working in the UK gives you the opportunity to get comfortable with the language and learn how some things differ in different countries; this gives you a kick-start into the job market.”

Coming to Hartpury may be the first time you are responsible for managing your money. Our Finance team is always here to help you manage your finances and answer any questions.
