As we look to 2030, we will continue to invest in and evolve our facilities to ensure they remain fit for the future. Through purposeful development, sustainability-led decision making and strong partnerships, our specialist environments will support ambition, unlock opportunity, and strengthen Hartpury’s role as a leader in applied education and research. Together, these facilities define our identity as a specialist institution — one that connects knowledge with practice, expertise with impact, and people with the professions they aspire to shape.

Hartpury is a specialist University and College by design. Our facilities are central to how we deliver outstanding education, applied research and real-world impact across our disciplines. Set within a unique estate, our specialist environments are not simply places of study. They are living, working and performance settings that reflect the realities of the sectors we serve. They enable hands-on learning, support innovation and knowledge exchange, and bring together students, staff, industry and communities in meaningful collaboration.

AGRICULTURE We will aim to deliver a provision of internationally recognised and inclusive agricultural teaching, research and knowledge exchange that develops skills and attributes in our students in an applied and industry-relevant setting, enabling them to make a positive difference to the agri-food industry.

Expand the capabilities of our commercial farm and Digital Innovation Farm, reinforcing Hartpury’s role as a national centre for Agri-Tech excellence. 3.4. ANIMAL We will provide innovative and world-renowned facilities that underpin inspirational curriculum, attracting national and international stakeholders to engage with Hartpury in research and knowledge exchange in the fields of animal science, wellbeing and performance. Ultimately, Animal graduates will be employees of choice and equipped to make a positive difference to industry and society.

Hartpury has the potential to become the leading destination for animal-related education and activities. The vision for Animal can be realised by focusing on key priorities that align with Hartpury’s 2030 strategic pillars of Passion, People, and Place.

EQUINE We will aim to deliver an outstanding student experience while focusing on the needs of the equine industry to provide well-educated, motivated and passionate individuals who will drive a forward-thinking agenda to assist the sector in addressing some of its key issues, including ethical training, welfare and sustainability.

2.3 Deliver continuing professional development (CPD) for students and enhanced learning opportunities for all. 2.4 Build on the already renowned research within Hartpury equine and beyond. Enhancing facilities, empowering the future We will: 3.1. Develop further sustainable outcomes within the equine industry and support governing bodies in delivery. 3.2. Embrace the ‘Happy Horse’ principles and Horse Charter to ensure Hartpury meets the requirements for the welfare of all equids. 3.3. Evolve commercialisation of resources to include increased external facility hire, and demonstrate opportunities for all. 3.4. Ensure major events continue to grow, creating opportunities for competitors, sponsors, owners and equine partnerships.
Hartpury is renowned for its specialist facilities and delivering outstanding education and exceptional events, from grassroots up to and including international level in all four Equine Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.

SPORT
We will continue to support and develop one of the best education sporting ecosystems through our Sports Academies, which provide a unique environment for our wider student body, integrating elite level female and male sport throughout the academic journey.

Hartpury aims to be the UK’s premier sport and education setting, providing a dual career environment, enabling students to achieve academically, as an athlete and in the world of work.
Enhancing facilities, empowering the future We will: 3.1. Support world-class facilities to develop one of the best education sporting ecosystems. 3.2. Enhance new and existing world class sporting infrastructure, considering space for future innovation and excellence. 3.3. Construct buildings that create innovative and inclusive spaces for athletes aspiring to reach the highest level. This will include a ‘Sports Training and Wellbeing Village’ equipped with advanced technologies. 3.4. Develop facilities that enhance the campus for students and staff, while positioning Hartpury as a destination for partners, professional organisations, international teams, and students from around the world.

Build on our strapline DNA (Dream, Nurture, Achieve), developing our Sports Academies to provide world-leading pathways and real-world applied learning to aid employability and exit routes. 1.2 Ensure that students and athletes have access to the most innovative facilities, technology, systems and support to maximise their potential. 1.3 Support and develop strategic partnerships for applied world-class knowledge and research.

Provide innovative performance services support for coaching, analysis, GPS systems, nutrition, athletic performance, performance lifestyle, psychology, and medical. 2.2 Offer cutting-edge equipment that enhances the experience available to all students, athletes, staff and partners. 2.3 Support our professional/semi-professional teams to provide the best possible opportunities for our students and staff. 2.4 Offer studentship and placement opportunities, exposing students to a real-world environment.
