Your Students’ Union We’re here to support you during your time here. Whether you’re studying for studying for your undergraduate or postgraduate degree, we’ll represent your voice. We have a wide range of clubs and societies for you to take part in. From basketball, cheerleading and hockey to snow sports, polo and volleyball – you’ll be spoilt for choice when you’re picking your team. If sport isn’t your thing, you can get involved in one of our societies or campaigns. Joining a club means doing something you love, or maybe trying something new, with like- minded people. All of the groups have a social element, so it’s a great way to make friends outside of your course. Student voice is a big part of what we do for you. Tell us what you like about Hartpury, what you think could be improved and what you would like to see happen. We’re a friendly face on campus, ready to help you find the support you need. Come and meet us at the Freshers’ Fair (see page 4) on Wednesday 19 September. Sign up to clubs and societies, find out what the local area has to offer and get lots of great freebies. We can’t wait to meet you in September!

Your Students’ Union is here for you Empowering students to excel by providing representation, guidance and opportunities. Representation Your course will have two student representatives. They’ll gather your feedback on everything about your Hartpury story. Whether it’s your teaching and learning experience, the size of classes, quality of equipment, recycling on campus, transport, facilities or food – they want to hear your views. If you’re interested in becoming your course rep, please let Alice (your Education Officer) know. Guidance We know that settling into a new place with new people can be daunting. So we’re on hand to help you with that. We can help you find your way to the library, join new clubs and activities, or even find the support and assistance you might need. Come and have a chat with us. Opportunities We want you to have the best time here and a big part of that is your leisure time. We provide plenty of clubs and societies for you to join (and even help run, if you like). If we don’t have one that you would like to see, have a chat with Sophia (your Clubs and Societies Officer). She would love to help you set it up. For volunteering opportunities, speak to Steph (your Vice-President) and gain new skills that will pay off in the workplace. There’s heaps going on in Gloucestershire too.

With lots of animals on campus you’ll have plenty of opportunities to interact with them. We run initiatives called Walk and Talk and Pets on Prescription. Let us know if you’d like to find out more.

Get connected

Keep in touch with friends and family Our on-site guest WiFi is provided by The Cloud. This will enable you to get online before your student log-in is created. When connecting, choose ‘_The Cloud’ from the WiFi options in your settings, then open a web browser and choose any website. You’ll be directed to The Cloud log-in page where you can set up an account or log in with an existing one. After your student account has been created, you’ll need to switch to using the Eduroam WiFi service. The Cloud will give you 180 minutes of free connectivity per 24-hour period. After that, there may be occasions when you are invited to pay a fee by the service provider. This is not controlled by Hartpury.

We find that the best phone coverage on-site is EE and BT.
