3. Book your study needs assessment If you are eligible, the next stage is a needs assessment. This is an informal assessment to confirm the support that you require for your course. The assessment is paid for through DSAs at no cost to you. 4. After your study needs assessment Following your assessment, a report will be sent to you and your funding body, which details your support recommendations. Your funding body will then explain how you can access this support.
How to arrange your disability and learning support
1. Check you have evidence of your disability
For a Specific Learning Difference (SpLD) you'll need a full diagnostic assessment report. The report must have been carried out by an Educational Psychologist or Specialist Teacher. If not, please let us know. We can organise an assessment for you at Hartpury before you start your course. The Diagnostic Assessment costs £375, but you may be able to claim some of this money back when you enrol. If you have a medical condition or impairment, you'll need evidence from your doctor or specialist. 2. Apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance Support for students is provided on an individual basis, normally through Disabled Students' allowances (DSAs). DSAs pay for one-to-one study skills support and specialist equipment. Although you can apply at any time, it's best to apply before you start your course. www.gov.uk/disabled-students allowances-dsas
