maximising industry welfare standards for successful horse-rider partnerships at all levels of equestrian sport. For example, in the world of dressage, a ‘surprise’ discovery about elite riders’ pelvis technique will influence future training for riders at all levels. Changing lives Our relationship with horses goes much deeper than winning competitions. We’ve been exploring how regular interactions with horses can improve the wellbeing and positivity of children and adults with mental health issues. Our findings could have a big impact on the future provision of equine-assisted therapy.
Our staff and students have access to world-leading facilities. They carry out research that’s changing the waywe train and work with horses, maximising welfare as well as performance. We’re the voice of authority on equine treadmill use for rehabilitation, and our studies into dressage technique, the benefits of warming up, and the power of equine- assisted therapy are influencing industry best practice.
