About the day We’ve built your Offer Holder Days around topics that are important to you. We want you to leave campus reassured that this is the right place for you. You’ll experience university life and become a Hartpury student for the day. You’ll hear from your subject area head of department and take part in an interactive session that’s specific to your chosen degree. A breakdown of these sessions is available from page 8. Meet those that will support you whilst living and studying here. Our teams, including admissions, accommodation, finance, and careers, are available all day in our Study Lounge. Your Offer Holder Day will begin with a welcome from your Head of Department, Catherine Porter, as she explains why we’re the perfect place to pursue your passion for all things equine. BSc (Hons) Equine Business Management: Myths versus reality Dive into the strategies that make equine companies thrive, learn how to make them better and how we’ll help you excel in the commercial arena. You'll get the inside scoop from our current students, who’ll reveal the myths versus reality of equine business. BSc (Hons) International Horseracing Business: Racing on tour Horseracing is the second largest spectator sport in Great Britain. It’s progressive, focussed on driving growth to remain competitive, and highly regulated to ensure the welfare of sporting participants (horse, jockeys and yard staff). You’ll gain an understanding of the essential ingredients of success. BSc (Hons) Racehorse Performance and Rehabilitation*: Racing on tour Horseracing is the most highly regulated equestrian sport and leads the way in equine veterinary science. There’s a wealth of scientific knowledge about the Thoroughbred, with an emphasis on injury prevention and rehabilitation. Delve into the science of racehorse performance management, as well as the horseracing world. BSc (Hons) Equine Performance and Rehabilitation: In ‘knee deep’ Step into our Equine Therapy Centre as we delve ‘knee deep’ to assess one of our patients on the water treadmill. You’ll learn the top techniques and tools to help athletes to return to peak performance. BSc (Hons) Equine Behaviour and Welfare: Learning principles in practise You'll take part in an interactive demo, exploring how horses learn, acquire knowledge and why their welfare matters. You’ll see equine behaviour in action and learn how you can make a difference in shaping the future of horse care. BSc (Hons) Equine Science and MSci Equine Science: Under the skin A horse can withstand the force of half a tonne travelling at 40mph! During this session, you’ll examine one of their most unique features, the equine distal limb (leg). Learn how internal structures create ‘elastic’ energy, generating incredible power. BSc (Hons) Equestrian Sports Coaching*: Coaching the coach Think coaching is easy? Think again. You'll work alongside current students and pros to break down what it takes to bring out the best in riders. From proven techniques to performance breakthroughs, you'll look at how you can build confidence and results. BSc (Hons) Equine Dental Science: Straight from the horse’s mouth Take part in an interactive live demonstration and find out first-hand what it means to be an Equine Dental Technician. As part of this session, you’ll gain an understanding of the profession and the rewarding career opportunities that are available.
*If you have not yet completed your evidence of practical competency, we’re delighted to offer the option of doing this during your Offer Holder Day. It’ll take no more than one hour of your time, and we have slots available throughout the afternoon to fit around your other activities. How prepared are we to step outside our usual comfort zone and engage in this world? This fun, interactive session is your chance to discover your strengths, meet new people, and start mapping out your perfect career. It’s all about figuring out who you are and where you want to go in a world full of possibilities. BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and BSc (Hons) Physical Education and School Sport: A holistic approach – the athlete as a person Coaching is about more than just skills, it’s about helping people grow as individuals. In this high-energy session, you’ll dive into how you can shape the future of sports by developing not just athletes, but well-rounded individuals. Get ready to move, experiment with your coaching style, and take part in hands-on activities. Whether you’re into coaching, PE teaching, or improving public health, this is your chance to show what you’re made of. BSc (Hons) Sport Business Management: Social media and sport From viral TikToks to massive Instagram campaigns, social media is redefining the way sports businesses connect with fans. You’ll then split into your course specific groups, meet our lecturers and your fellow offer holders. BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy: Holding it together Have you ever had an injury? Did you wonder about the science behind the injury and anatomy? In this interactive session, you’ll jump in to the world of sports therapy to focus on anatomy, the structures involved, how these may be injured, and the rehabilitation involved. BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Nutrition, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Sciences, BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning, BSc (Hons) Sports Performance, and FdSc Sport Performance and Coaching: From theory to practice We’re constantly exploring new ways to improve athletic performance. Understand how each discipline interacts to innovate within sport. Experience our Performance Gym with a physical activity designed around testing athletic qualities and how practitioners can use this to inform athletic development and other professional practice areas.

Agriculture, Animal, Biological Sciences and Environmental Science
Offer Holders Welcome talk: 12.30pm Location: MDC1
Your Head of Department, Wanda McCormick will speak with you on Hartpury’s expertise across agriculture and animal subjects, and explain what makes Hartpury the perfect choice for students to study their passion. You’ll then join your course specific groups to learn more about your chosen degree. Parents: You're welcome to attend the welcome talk, after which offer holders will split into their course sessions. Information on what else is available for you across the day is avai on page 22. BSc (Hons) Agriculture By 2050, there will be another billion people on the planet – they ’re all going to need to eat! Find out how Hartpury’s commercial campus farm, home to our Agri-Tech Centre for smart farming technology and research, is facing industry challenges head on. BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Crop Science Understanding different soil types is critical for the effective crop management. Explore proven crop planning methods and examine different soil types whilst identifying compaction in crop fields on our commercial farm. BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Livestock Science Work with our herd of dairy cows to evaluate nutritional consistency and make feed recommendations. You’ll also discuss the practicalities of meeting sustainable development goals, and the important role that research plays in ensuring farms stay viable. BSc (Hons) Environmental Science Our campus is home to a variety of diverse habitats. During your session, you’ll examine the effects of modern agricultural practices and campus life on soil and water. Afterwards, you’ll discuss mitigation strategies to enhance the environment you’ll be studying in.

BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science and BSc (Hons) Veterinary Biosciences: How do we identify disease? Understanding the anatomy and physiology of an animal is important for anyone wanting to work in animal health. You’ll explore in depth, through a hands-on dissection, the anatomy of an organ to understand how it works, the impact it has on the body and what happens when it’s diseased. You’ll also take part in a classroom-based activity session learning about how we can identify disease. BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Training (Clinical) and BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Training with Canine (Clinical): Animal behaviour in practice To understand animals, we need to observe animals in their normal environment. You’ll use our animal facilities to observe animal species and discuss how existing environmental factors and interactions with humans affect various aspects of their behaviour and training. BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Welfare: Getting it right With so many species living on campus, ensuring their welfare is a big job. In this session, you’ll discover how new technology can support us to make decisions and help ensure their health and wellbeing. Examine how grimace scales, infrared thermography and behavioural observations are used to gain essential insights. Humans and animals interact with and impact each other in many ways, from animal-assisted interventions to conflicts with wildlife. You’ll spend time observing some of the animals in our collection and consider the impact of human-animal interactions, as well as the potential benefits to humans. BSc (Hons) Zoology: Campus ecology and biodiversity Our first-year students explore the biodiversity of our beautiful campus. In this session, you’ll get a taste of what that involves. You’ll do your own surveying, using a range of techniques to discover which species reside on campus. Please note that offer holders will need to wear sturdy waterproof footwear for this session. BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences: Theory and practice From land to lab. You’ll take part in two sessions. In the laboratory, through a hands-on dissection, you’ll explore the anatomy of an organ to understand how it works and what happens when it’s not working properly. After that, you’ll undertake some surveying, using a range of techniques to discover which species reside on our campus. BSc (Hons) Human-Animal Interaction with Psychology: Considerations and opportunities

Veterinary Nursing Offer Holders Welcome talk: 1.30pm Location: MDC1
Discover what life as a small animal or equine veterinary nurse is really like, and get your questions answered. You’ll meet our expert staff at your welcome talk and hear from Head of Department, Catherine Phillips, on life at Hartpury University, our reputation within the industry, and how we’re investing for your future. As part of your Veterinary Practice Based Learning Talk, you’ll get advice on finance specific to Veterinary Nursing and find out how we support our students to gain work experience and arrange placements. Parents: You're welcome to attend the welcome and Veterinary Practice Based Learning talks, after which offer holders will split into their course sessions. Information on what else is available for you across the day is on page 22. After your talks, you’ll have the chance to speak with current students as you walk together to our Veterinary Nursing and Technical Skills Centre. You’ll then spend time in this brand-new facility, which is at the heart of our ongoing vision to produce the very best veterinary nurses to meet and exceed the expectations of employers, for your course session. You’ll experience what it’s like to be a student veterinary nurse at Hartpury University as you get involved in practical tasks. You’ll also spend some time in the lab learning about animal anatomy, explore our clinical skills area, and use some of the specialist equipment available to our students. Finally, you’ll get an authentic insight into clinical learning in a veterinary practice, and hear from current students as they prepare for rewarding careers as veterinary nurses.

Student and Parent forums Our forums focus on key information outside of your chosen course. Our talks from ambassadors, alumni and our support team have been designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to make important decisions, and provide answers to any questions you may have. Life at Hartpury: Student Q&A Location: MDC4 1.30pm / 2.30pm / 3.30pm Hear from current students about their experiences. They’ll outline our range of clubs and societies, as well as give you the lowdown on the surrounding area and settling into university. Find out everything you need to know

You’ll find your tour point in our Study Lounge after you’ve registered.

Information for parents
How to get involved
Whether you're a parent, relative or friend of a Hartpury University offer holder, we encourage you to be involved in the day. After registration, you're welcome to join your offer holder at the start of their course session. They'll then attend their interactive subject specific session; you’ll meet back up with them in the Study Lounge afterwards. See page 6 for times and locations. If you’re staying on campus, we recommend you join our dedicated parent panels (see below). You can also speak with our teams, who will be based in our Study Lounge all day, tour campus and accommodation – you can do this with your offer holder or whilst you’re waiting for them. Alternatively, head over to Graze, our campus restaurant and grab yourself a bite to eat. Of course, you don’t have to stay on campus! You could use this time to explore the local area – the City of Gloucester and Quays outlet is nearby, or you could even head a little further to Cheltenham. Parents Panel Location: Graze 01-02, 10.30am / Midday / 1.30pm Hear from our experts on a range of topics including our degrees, entry requirements, graduate outcomes, student life, health and wellbeing. This will lead into a Q&A session with our experts, where you can get your questions answered. We'll also provide a hot drink and sweet treat! Parents of Veterinary Nursing offer holders You’re welcome to attend one of the parents panels, however please note that the Veterinary Nursing welcome and Veterinary Practice Based Learning talks, which you’re welcome to attend with your offer holder, take place at the same time as the final panel. You’re welcome to join an earlier panel (all times above) or speak with our teams in the Study Lounge to suit your schedule.
