"Working with a domestic animal to protect a wild one was an amazing opportunity, and it has so much potential to improve hedgehog conservation methods in the future. I was able to work with my supervisor on hedgehog conservation right from the start of my undergraduate degree. I attended a hedgehog walk event during my Hartpury Fresher’s Week, and from then I was hooked! This led to a variety of exciting research projects throughout my degree and beyond. My MRes project focused on working with Henry, a professionally trained detection dog, to find effective solutions to detect hedgehogs and protect their habitat. Being able to contribute to the bigger picture through hands-on research is why I chose my master’s degree at Hartpury."
