Examine the science underpining equine behaviour and welfare. You’ll apply theory to practice, while developing new expertise to advance your career. Key to the course is understanding the associations between behavioural and management strategies, as well as health and performance. You’ll be encouraged to evaluate human, horse and management system interactions, whilst tailoring the focus of your projects and modules to suit your career goals in relation to equine behaviour and welfare. Professional experience You'll have access to horses in our equestrian centre, as well as via national and international competitions and events on campus. You’ll also benefit from leading industry researchers, guest lecturers and field trips to enhance your learning and networks. MSc Equine Science student CherithWilson collaborated with Sirona Therapeutic Horsemanship on an exciting new study to evidence the impact of equine assisted therapy and learning programmes on young people with autism. The benefit of weekly sessions were clear, increasing both confidence and relationships. The researchwill inform further studies to enhance therapeutic interventions with horses in this increasingly popular area.
