EXPERIENCE PRACTICAL
Strengthen your theoretical understanding with practical
experiences. Hands-on learning for our animal students has included gaining an industry-recognised canine first aid certificate, developing enrichment activities for kennel dogs, exploring the importance of plants to sustain the lives of animals in different ecosystems at the Botanical Gardens, Birmingham, and carrying out zoo inspections for a taste of careers in zoology or animal husbandry. Some have even experienced conservation first-hand in South Africa.* They've contributed to real change as they've restored natural habitats, tracked and identified animals, while gaining an understanding of the latest challenges from expert scientists and conservationists. The Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre has provided opportunities for students to apply their husbandry skills in a new environment, with species unlikely to appear in our on-site animal collection, while exploring Kruger National Park, and taking a river cruise along the Blyde Canyon.
*Additional fees apply for this optional trip.
