Trips and experiences Get out in the field As an animal student at Hartpury, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to experience your course in a real-life setting through field trips, interactive activities, and guest speakers. Discover a world of animal-related careers, find out what it’s really like to work in the industry, and explore the placement and volunteering opportunities that will help You could experience conservation first-hand in South Africa.* Contribute to real change as you restore natural habitats, track and identify animals, whilst gaining an understand of the latest challenges from expert scientists and conservationists. Apply your husbandry skills in a new environment at the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, with species unlikely to appear in our on-site animal collection, explore Kruger National Park, and take a river cruise along the Blyde Canyon. Real-world experience Practical experiences are just as important as classroom-based learning to strengthen your theoretical understanding and develop hands-on skills for the future. Our students have performed CPR on a model dog to gain an industry-recognised canine first aid certificate, developed enrichment activities for kennel dogs, explored the importance of plants to sustain the lives of animals in different ecosystems at the Botanical Gardens, Birmingham, and carried out zoo inspections for a taste of careers in zoology or animal husbandry. secure your dream role.
