Work experience opportunities Work experience is an important part of our students’ learning experience. It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience your subject area in the real world. You’ll gain practical experience as you try different jobs and explore your career options. In addition to your external work experience, you'll have access to nine commercial businesses and big industry events on campus – from research conferences, to equine and sports events – for plenty of extra CV-boosting volunteering opportunities. Commercial experience on campus Our students work in teams to develop core skills; gaining practical expertise alongside important employability skills. Depending on their course, they learn how to manage our commercial farm, animal collection or livery yard, carry out equine or canine training in our international arenas, or develop coaching skills in our state-of-the-art sports facilities. Your wellbeing is a top priority for us. We’ll support you to make the most of your Hartpury adventure. From day one, you’ll have a team of people around you – from your tutor and lecturers, to learning specialists and wellbeing experts – to support with whatever you need. Aspire – learning support Every student is unique, which is why we'll work with you to create your personalised support plan based on your individual needs and goals. Our Aspire Learning Support team can provide support for specific learning difficulties such as: dyslexia; dyspraxia; ASD or ADHD; social, emotional or behavioural difficulties; visual or hearing impairments; and physical difficulties, including assessments for extra time, scribes, or a reader in exams. Academic support You’ll be assigned a personal tutor when you arrive, who will support you to reach your academic goals. They’ll be your first port of call if you have any questions about your lessons or assessments.

Wellbeing support Our dedicated Wellbeing team of counsellors, nurses, safeguarding leads, and a chaplain are here to ensure you have everything you need to be happy, healthy, and safe while you're here. They can offer support, advice, and guidance on a range of issues including mental health, bereavement, stress, and more. Wellfest! We’ll run a really fun and important wellbeing event in your first few weeks here. You’ll meet over 70 local health and wellbeing providers, take part in workshops on a range of top student issues – from mental health, positive relationships and consent, to body image, gender identity, drink/drug driving – and get to have a go on the climbing wall, go-karts, and lots of other fun activities. We’ve invested £3.5 million in a modern learning centre for our college students. It'll be your go-to when you’ve got assessments and group projects, giving you access to books, magazines, journals, and thousands of online resources via the College Library on the ground floor. Our teaching rooms on the first floor offer fantastic views over the Hartpury sports pitches and the surrounding countryside.

Everything you need on one campus Nestled in the heart of campus, our College Learning Centre (CLC) will be your learning hub. It’s got everything you need for your studies.

Digital Innovation Farm Gain hands-on experience during practical sessions on our commercial Home Farm on site. Access smart farming technology in our Agri-Tech Centre, be exposed to real agribusiness innovation in our Tech Box Park, and use advanced simulators to explore sustainability in our new Digital Studio.

Professional sports environment You'll apply theory during practical sessions in our multi-sports hall with integrated cameras. Our state-of-the-art Sports Academy is also home to human performance and biomechanics laboratories, a rehabilitation suite, physiotherapy rooms, and gyms. Our facilities are used by our students as part of their learning, as well as training with our competitive Sports Academies.

World-class equestrian facilities Our Equine Centre is home to three international arenas, including a new Equine and Animal Assisted Activity Area for training and research. We also have an equine yard stabling 230 horses – including 150 livery spaces – and rider performance, equine therapy, and hydrotherapy centres. You could volunteer to gain extra experience doing what you love.

Diverse animal collection Put theory into practice as you learn to manage and care for a wide range of species. You could work with invertebrates, reptiles, aquatics, exotics, and large and small animals, as well as horses in our Equine Centre, livestock in our Home Farm, or dogs in our Canine Hydrotherapy Centre.

At Hartpury, you'll have access to our Students' Union (SU) – which is a huge bonus as a college student. They'll represent your voice, support you to get involved in student life, and provide access to clubs and societies. You could get involved and become a course representative or run for SU officer. Our campus will be the hub of your student life, but it’s also a springboard for a much bigger adventure. With some of the best attractions, landscapes and events in the country right on our doorstep, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to fun things to do at the weekends. For high street shopping, great food and the latest movies, Gloucester and Cheltenham have everything you need. The Hartpury Shuttle Bus runs regularly from campus (tickets are available on the bus or via an annual pass), so you can pop in for fun with your friends. If you’re more of an outdoor explorer, you’ll want to go kayaking down the Wye Valley, climbing and caving in the Forest of Dean, or mountain biking and exploring in the Brecon Beacons and Malvern Hills. Sports fans can take their pick from the horseracing at Cheltenham Racecourse, rugby at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester, and football at Cheltenham Town FC. You could watch something different almost every weekend. Gloucestershire is home to over 45 festivals. From 2000trees, Lakefest, and Barn on the Farm music festivals, to the Frightmare horrorfest, you’ll find something you love in the local festival scene. Prize Day Our annual Prize Day recognises and celebrates the achievements of our college students. They’re joined on this special day by their parents, guardians and carers, as well as Hartpury governors and a celebrity guest.

The fantastic event is hosted in our international equine competition arena. Awards recognise a range of outstanding characteristics and achievements – from commitment, positivity and endeavour, to coursework projects, academic prowess, and sporting excellence. Prizes awarded at the ceremony include the Glos NFU Perpetual Trophy for top student, the Clive Hall Memorial Shield for a student who has demonstrated great endeavour, and the Penfold Trophy for outstanding effort.

Alongside a range of sponsored prizes, each event hosts an inspirational celebrity guest. Recently we've welcomed Gloucester Rugby player and former student, Lewis Ludlow, farmer and BBC Countryfile presenter, Adam Henson, adventurer and motivational speaker, Jamie McDonald, and endurance athlete, Anna McNuff, named by The Guardian and Condé Nast Traveller as one of the top female adventurers of our time. They inspired students and guests alike with tales of their adventures and challenges overcome.

Our campus offers 360 hectares of beautiful countryside and amazing facilities on your doorstep. If you want to be in the heart of the action, living on campus at Hartpury could be for you. We have a Residential Support team on call 24/7, as well as Residential, Wellbeing, and Safeguarding teams. If you live in the local area, we offer plenty of transport options to make getting to and from campus as easy as possible. We run a number of daily bus routes and pick students up from across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and the Cotswolds. These are priced on a zone basis and guarantee a seat five days a week. There is also a Hartpury Shuttle Bus that stops on campus. You'll be able to buy tickets on the bus or pay for an annual pass. Tuition fees If you’re a UK, crown dependency (Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man) or Republic of Ireland (under the Common Trade Agreement) resident, and under 19 years of age on 31 August of the academic year your course starts, you do not need to pay tuition fees. If you’re an international student, you can find your tuition fees on our website. We offer an all-inclusive package for international students. This enables you to pay the bulk of the ‘extras’ in advance so you have less to organise. If you're over 19 and have to pay for your course, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the tuition fees. There are some other circumstances when fees may not need to be paid. We offer a range of qualifications to suit your learning style and career ambitions. We guarantee they're well regarded by employers and universities alike and are continually reviewed to give you the knowledge and skills to stand out from the crowd.

Access to Higher Education Diplomas The Access to Higher Education Diploma qualification prepares students aged 19 years and older for university-level study. It’s ideal for those who would like to progress their careers through higher education, but who left school without the qualifications needed to do so. With a blend of taught sessions and independent study, it can be combined with existing commitments. BTEC diplomas BTEC diplomas are specialist applied qualifications, built around specific industry standards and linked to skills required for employment. They’re well suited to those who want a more practical learning experience, while deciding whether they want to progress into employment or university level study. Assessment is undertaken through coursework and exams. We offer BTEC diploma qualifications at different levels. Check the table to the right and see the course pages for specific entry requirements. BTEC Level 2 diplomas These one-year courses combine practical and theoretical study. You'll gain a solid foundation of knowledge, ready to progress onto a BTEC Level 3 qualification.

A-levels A-levels are traditional academic

qualifications, ideal for students who enjoy classroom-based learning. We offer 14 A-level subjects at Hartpury. Our students study three A-levels each, with time outside their learning spent developing expertise through enrichment activities as part of our Hartpury College Certificate (pages 5-6). T Levels (new for 2024) T Levels are technical programmes designed in collaboration with employers to give you applied skills and knowledge within your subject area. You'll spend a large amount of time gaining first-hand experience of your chosen career in an industry placement. That’s in addition to the practical and classroom education you'll receive at Hartpury. You'll be well-prepared to enter a technical career or progress onto your dream university course.* Nationally, all BTECs and City and Guilds qualifications in Agriculture will become T Levels from 2024 onwards, followed by other subject areas in future years. T Levels are set to become one of the main choices after GCSEs, replacing BTECs and City and Guilds qualifications in many subjects over the next few years. If you want to gain the qualifications you need for your dream career or university course, or want to progress your studies as you develop your sporting talent, studying A-levels at Hartpury is a fantastic choice. We offer a range of high-quality A-levels and enrichment activities to prepare you for your dream career anywhere in the world. You’ll be taught by A-level expert lecturers and gain a thorough understanding of your subject. Study three A-levels for 18 hours per week. A-levels are selected from three option blocks that have been grouped to maximise choice. Your timetable is designed so you can take part in other enrichment activities as part of the college day. Our students have access to 10 hours' of additional academic support per week, including subject-specific study. Students who live on campus are expected to attend additional timetabled study. Most of your lessons will take place in our modern College Learning Centre, but you may also have taught sessions in our new Graze classrooms and practicals in our university standard labs, kitted out with the latest equipment. Pre-Vet in-house qualification Aspiring vets can gain extra experience to support their Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Science application.
