Veterinary Nursing Science Foundation (FdSc)

Completion of this programme will give you eligibility to join the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Veterinary Nursing Register and allow you to practise as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.*

Make the most of our Veterinary Nursing Clinical Skills Centre and lecturers who are also qualified veterinary nurses with industry experience. You’ll have access to large and small animals on campus including exotics, domestics, reptiles and livestock. In your first year you’ll develop knowledge and skills in essential areas including anatomy, husbandry, pharmacy management and patient care. You'll then spend 1800 hours in a veterinary practice work placement, before returning to Hartpury to develop skills in areas such as diagnostics, and surgical and anaesthesia practice. Industry opportunities In your second year you’ll complete a work- based clinical placement (currently 1,800 hours) in an approved RCVS veterinary training practice. This will allow you to develop clinical skills ready for qualifying. We have excellent partnerships with local and national practices. This course is ideal for those who are passionate about working as a veterinary nurse and move directly into industry once qualified and registered. Veterinary Nurse.
