Central to this degree is the benefit of human- animal interaction. You’ll examine the role that animals have in enriching human lives – as pets, in zoos, farms and conservation contexts. You’ll understand the benefits of the human- animal bond, focusing on the role that animals play in improving people’s social, emotional and cognitive wellbeing. This includes the rehabilitation of humans with mental and physical illnesses, as well as the promotion of wellbeing in children, adults and the elderly. Industry opportunities Gaining experience in industry is a core part of the degree, to ensure you’re ready for employment when you graduate. This degree provides a fantastic opportunity for you to study a range of zoology-related subjects. You’ll work in our labs as well as with different animals both on and off campus – exotics, domestics, invertebrates, livestock and wildlife. The course offers a variety of modules including animal health and disease, conservation, wildlife and zoo management, nutrition, biodiversity and animal behaviour, welfare and ethics, animal production and anthrozoology. As you progress you’ll develop your own areas of interest, gaining skills and experience for your career. you. Work with over 70 species on campus including meerkats, dogs, horses and livestock. Industry opportunities Our students gain work and research experience in our on-site facilities, as well as at local rescue centres, zoos and wildlife parks.
