Riding at Hartpury

Gain experience at international equine events

You could gain experience at one of our international equine events. Work with world-class riders and commentators, support our events team to manage press such as Horse & Hound , and help international course builders add the finishing touches to our four-star cross- country course. We’re home to two international equine events each year. Not only do our students compete at these events but they also make a difference behind the scenes, forming connections and gaining valuable experience for their futures.

You don’t have to be able to ride horses to study one of our equine degrees. However, you'll have plenty of opportunities to ride alongside your lectures, if that'swhat youwant to do. Equestrian Club Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned rider, you’ll have opportunities to have fun with horses while you’re here. We have up to 60 loan horses that are accessible to students for learning and recreational activities. You could learn to ride from scratch or develop existing skills through discounted lessons with our instructors. Our Students’ Union also offers equine clubs and societies – why not try something new? Equine Academy If you want to develop your strengths as a competitive rider, you’ll be keen to explore our Equine Academy. You’ll have access to world-class coaches and unrivalled facilities to help you reach your peak for competition. This includes a Rider Performance Centre, equipped with a gym, sports therapy suite and two high-tech Racewood simulators. Our Racewood Eventing Simulator and Racewood MK10 Racing Simulator are among the most advanced of their kind at an educational institution. Our students are able to analyse their performance in real time. They're also used for rider performance research by students and staff.

230 stables on campus If you’re a keen rider and want to bring your horse with you to Hartpury, you can apply for on-site DIY livery. You’ll have access to our facilities and be able to explore the local countryside via our hacking tracks.
