You could use the trip to gain insights into international conservation and wildlife careers. You'll see that your animal degree could take you all over the world
Lecturer Profile
Brian Evans Animal Science Senior Lecturer
"Nutrition is the fundamental building block of an animal’s health andwellbeing. If you get that right, the health and productivity of the animal will generally be at an optimum. It’s great to see students putting their knowledge into practice on our dairy unit. They analyse the physical characteristics of the feed against the ruminant health of the animals eating it. This way the science is applied and comes together for them."
*Students on our Animal Behaviour and Welfare, and Zoology degrees can go on our optional 10-day field trip as part of their second year. Fees apply. Please see our website for details
Depending on your degree, you could take us up on the fantastic opportunity to visit Mankwe Wildlife Reserve in South Africa.* You’ll experience exciting safaris and conservation-based fieldwork, and gain insights into important conservation issues such as anti-poaching. This once-in-a-lifetime trip includes animal tracking, night-time game drives, and behavioural observations of many species on the plains of South Africa. Students also recently heard from anti-poaching rangers first-hand, learning about the methods they use to protect highly targeted wildlife species.
Brian has worked in agricultural livestock consultancy, advising farmers about best practice
