Case study An international collaboration with Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI)

Recent questions have been raised about the suitability of para- dressage classifications, which have revealed a significant lack of scientific underpinning. This is an exciting project, run by the University of Central Lancashire, with the aim of designing a more evidence-based approach to para-equestrian classification. The three- year project will include a study undertaken at our international Hartpury Festival of Dressage 2019 event and in our famous Margaret Giffen Centre for Rider Performance. The research will not only provide an evidence base for para-dressage classification, but will yield exciting new information about how riders use their physicality to communicate with their horse.
