Look out for • If anyone makes a joke about you, calls you names, threatens or abuses you because you’re not the same as them, they are discriminating against you. • There are laws to protect you. For example, the Equality Act (2010). Action • Try to see differences in people as a positive thing and not something to be suspicious or scared of. • Don’t suffer in silence. See the contacts listed below for places to get help if you’re being discriminated against. Speak to someone you trust like your tutor. • Learn as much as you can about people as individuals. Knowing about different cultures, disabilities, sexualities and views can help you see past the label and appreciate the human being.
