4. Arrange your support Following your study needs assessment, a report will be generated detailing your support recommendations. This is sent to your funding body who will write to you to tell you what support you can access and how to do this. It's best to try and get your support in place as early as possible. asc@hartpury.ac.uk

Your next steps for arranging disability and learning support

1. Check you have evidence of your disability

For a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) you'll need a full diagnostic assessment report. The report must have been carried out by an Educational Psychologist or Specialist Teacher. If not, please let us know. We can organise an assessment for you at Hartpury before you start your course. The Diagnostic Assessment costs £350, but you may be able to claim some of this money back when you enrol. If you have a medical condition or impairment, you'll need evidence from your doctor or specialist. 2. Apply for Disabled Students’ Allowances Support for students is provided on an individual basis, normally through Disabled Students' allowances (DSAs). DSAs pay for one-to-one study skills support and specialist equipment. Although you can apply at any time, it's best to apply before you start your course. www.gov.uk/disabled-students- allowances-dsas 3. Book your study needs assessment Following your application for DSAs, your funding body will write to advise you whether you are eligible. If you are, you'll be asked to book a study needs assessment. This is an informal assessment to confirm the support that you require for your course and is paid for through DSAs at no cost to you.
