The following items are allowed in student bedrooms of our residential accommodation: • A small travel kettle • A small coffee machine • Hair dryers, straighteners, curling wands • Laptop/PC • Desk lamps • Small fans • Bar style extension leads • TV’s (see section on TV licence) • Game consoles • Small towel warmers /heated airers • Boot warmers (Football/Rugby/Equine) • Battery or mains operated fairy lights (must have a transformer with a maximum of 24v output) • Air purifiers /ionisers Items that should not be brought into halls, either bedrooms or kitchens, due to high electricity consummation and/or increased fire risk include: • Microwaves • Toasters • Fridges • Freezers • Ovens • Air fryers • Deep fat fryers • Slow cookers • Health grills such as George Foreman’s • Popcorn or candy floss makers • Cubed adapters/cable drum extension leads • Electric blankets • Electric heaters • Hot wax pots This list in not exhaustive. We reserve the right to reasonably remove anything deemed to compromise electrical or fire safety or if students are not operating any allowed items with due care. Items that are forbidden and found in kitchens or student rooms will also be removed by staff, as will any items deemed that they are not being kept in a hygienic condition will also be removed. Any removal of items will be carried out following Hartpury’s Search and Confiscation Policy and can be collected by students at the end of each semester. The health and safety of all students living in our residential accommodation is paramount.
