Understand Student finance

When it comes to paying for university, there are two main costs to consider – tuition fees and living costs. But don’t worry, there are plenty of financial support packages available too. Herewe explainmore about it.

Howto apply for your loans You can apply for both your tuition fee and maintenance loans in one go. For more information visit www.gov.uk/student-finance Paying back your loans If you’re a UK student with a tuition fee and/ or maintenance loan, you won’t start paying this back until you’re earning over £25,000 each year. You'll then pay back 9% of the amount over the threshold that you're earning each year. For example, if you're earning £28,000pa, you'll pay back approx £22 per month. Grants, bursaries and scholarships We offer a range of extra financial support packages – grants, scholarships, studentships and bursaries – for UK and international students that are linked to eligibility criteria and don’t need to be paid back. Depending on your circumstances, for example, if you have child or adult dependants, have declared a low household income, receive local authority care, or live in specific localities, you could be eligible to apply for financial support.* Please check our website for up-to-date details. www.hartpury.ac.uk/uni-funding

If you’re resident in the UK, or one of our crown dependencies (Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man), or the Republic of Ireland under the Common Trade Agreement and this is your first degree, you’ll be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan from the UK and respective governments. For students from outside the UK, you should research government loans and/or scholarships available in your country to support your studies in the UK. Please contact our International team if you have any questions. international@hartpury.ac.uk Maintenance Loan As a UK-based student, you'll also be eligible to apply for a means-tested Maintenance Loan to cover your living costs. How much you get depends on your household income, where you study, where you live and how long you’re studying for.** This will be paid directly into your bank account. Maintenance Loans vary between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and are not available to European or international students.
