Postgraduate Study

Postgraduate qualifications are ideal if youwant to continue developing specialist expertise in your subject area. Your goal may be to progress your industry career or tomove into the field of academia. Our qualifications in animal, agriculture, equine, sport and veterinary physiotherapy are developed in partnershipwith industry, to ensure you have a real impact. Qualifications are split into two categories – taught master's and research degrees. You can choose to study full time or part time. You can also progress directly from your undergraduate degree or at a later date.

Research degrees (doctorates) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Offered in partnership with the University of theWest of England, this is the highest level of academic study available. You would normally start a PhD on successful completion of a master's degree or following a period in industry. The main component is the doctoral thesis – an extensive and original research project that adds new knowledge to your field of study, and is worthy of publication. Doctorates are generally completed over three to five years and on successful completion, you’ll be able to put Dr in front of your name. Taught master's qualifications A taught master's degree involves lectures and practical sessions, alongside the completion of a dissertation or project. At Hartpury, our taught master's qualifications include: Integrated Master degree (MSci) Undergraduate and postgraduate level study in one. Master of Science (MSc) Advanced level study in the relevant subject area. Master of Research (MRes) Advanced level of research in the context of the relevant subject area.
