Riding at Hartpury
You don’t have to be able to ride to study one of our equine degrees. However, you'll have plenty of opportunities to experience the joy of horse riding alongside your lectures, if youwant to.* Riding opportunities We have over 60 loan horses, in addition to extensive DIY livery facilities if you decide to bring your own horse – but you don't need to. You may be able to take advantage of riding opportunities and social events available through our Equestrian Club. Equestrian club Our student-run club brings together like- minded friends and horse lovers outside of classroom lectures. We also have a Vaulting Society and Polo and Polocrosse Committee, alongside the most common equine disciplines including dressage and show jumping. Riding for competition If you’re looking to develop as an equestrian athlete, you might be eligible to join our Equine Academy. You’ll have access to world-class coaches, specialist training support and some of the best rider performance facilities, including our Racewood evening and racing simulators – the most advanced in an education setting.
*Riding at Hartpury is subject to an assessment. If you're not already at the required level, don't worry. We've teamed up with a local riding school to provide subsidised lessons and help you achieve the necessary skill level.
150 livery stables on campus If you’re a keen rider and want to bring your horse with you to Hartpury, you can apply for on-site DIY livery. You’ll have access to our facilities and be able to explore the local countryside via our hacking tracks.
