How we support you Supporting you in your studies Your programme manager or subject lead and personal tutor are here to support you academically. In addition, you can also approach the Library team, based in your learning centre. Your academic, learning and wellbeing support teams are also here to help you when you need it. Learning support If you need extra advice on getting to grips with studying in the UK, the team at the Achievement and Success Centre (ASC) can make a big difference. They run Study Skills workshops, and offer advice and guidance on a whole range of subjects, from academic writing and referencing to revision and overcoming examination nerves. For students with learning differences, such as dyslexia or dyspraxia, a physical or sensory impairment, or a medical or developmental condition – we’re here to help. Email ASC@ hartpury.ac.uk to let us know about your individual needs in advance and our experts will ensure you have the help you need from day one. Ensuring your wellbeing and safety Each accommodation hall is looked after by the Residential Support team who you can call on when you need help. For emergencies, the Residential Support team are on call 24 hours a day.
The Student Wellbeing team is here to support your physical and mental health. The team includes qualified counsellors, nurses and wellbeing officers to provide guidance when you need it. We have spaces for quiet reflection or prayer and our chaplain will offer a reassuring ear to those of all faiths (or none). During office hours, the team in Student Services at the main reception can point you to the teams you need to help you. Accessing medical support As part of your Student visa application, you will pay the National Health Service (NHS) surcharge, which gives you access to free healthcare services while you are in the UK. Once you arrive at Hartpury, we recommend visiting the Student Wellbeing team, who will help you register with the local doctor. We also have dedicated nurses on campus, offering both daytime and evening appointments, which you can book at a time that suits you. Helping you navigate life in the UK Our wellbeing and support team understands the issues that affect our international students and will be able to support you with everything from homesickness to visa issues.
