Tuition fees, living costs and loans

We know there’s a lot to take in around your finances. From tuition fees to living costs and loans, it can all seem a bit confusing. That’s why we’ve put this section together, to help you understand what’s what. English students There are two types of loans available to English students, provided by the government through Student Finance England. Tuition fee loan – lets you borrow enough money to pay your tuition fees in full. Maintenance loan – this is means tested (dependent on your household income) and allows you to borrow money to support your living costs at university. www.gov.uk/student-finance Welsh students There are loans and bursaries available to Welsh students, provided by the government through Student Finance Wales. Tuition fee loan – lets you borrow enough money to pay your tuition fees in full. Maintenance loan – this is means tested (dependent on your household income) and allows you to borrow money to support your living costs at university. Maintenance grant – you may be eligible to receive some of your maintenance in the form of a Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG).
