PERFORMANCE AND WELFARE HORSE HEALTH

Informing the equine industry

As a leading equine academic institution, we have a moral obligation to strive for improvements in welfare of all horses engaged with humans, not only in sport, but in breeding, transport, and in equine assisted activities aimed at improvement of human physical and mental wellbeing. We ask the right research questions to keep practice moving forwards and improve horse and rider performance.

Equine postgraduate students at Hartpury University have access to a wide range of state-of-the art equipment and laboratories to support their studies. The facilities within the Equine Therapy Centre and the Margaret Giffen Centre for Rider Performance enable biomechanical and physiological studies of both horse and rider.

Facilities: see page 57-58
