Whether you aspire to work with horses in a practical environment, or take on a management role in the equine or other industries, we have the course for you. Make full use of our facilities and develop experience and industry contacts for the future.

Equine Management (Equitation) Level 3* Develop the theoretical and practical skills to work in the equine industry. The Level 3 Extended Diploma is a riding course (by riding assessment**), while our Level 3 Diploma has equitation and non-riding/behaviour options. Students have regular yard duties, including weekends. It’s therefore compulsory to live in Hartpury accommodation during your studies. You’ll complete internal work experience as well as an external block during your course. Equine Management (Science) Level 3* If you're passionate about equine science and want to learn about the metabolism, animal cells and practical skills in animal science, this course is ideal for you. You'll develop a strong scientific knowledge base as you study three core science modules, and gain an academic understanding of equine science, honing your applied skills during a four-week block of external work experience during each year of your course (eight weeks in total). You'll study a total of 15 different units over this two-year course, delivered through theory-based lessons, as well as practical sessions.

Equine Management Level 3*

Gain an understanding of management behind the equine industry. As part of this non-riding course, you’ll study an equine related business module and apply the theory as you take part in practical sessions on our equine yard – we have loan horses for you to work with. You'll complete a four-week block in the industry in both years to gain first hand commercial experience. You'll also be engaged in weekend show duties. Equine Management (Behaviour) Level 3* Following on from the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Equine Management (Equitation), this course is for students who want to develop the theoretical and practical skills to work with horses in the equine industry, utilising our outstanding equine facilities. You'll be involved in the daily care of the horses through yard duties, which will develop the practical skills necessary to gain employment within the equine industry. This could be at a riding school, competition yard, livery yard or therapy centre.

Your progression opportunities Our students have gone on to complete equine science, business, and coaching degrees at Hartpury University or other institutions. This could lead to a career as a:

• Groom • Yard Manager • Riding Instructor • Event Manager • Horse Trainer

• Laboratory Technician • Research Officer • Equine Nutritionist • Competition Rider

*Level 3 assessment | Depending on the course, you'll have one or two external exams each year, in addition to internal units assessed by assignments, practical assessments and presentations. **To be riding at BHS Stage 2 level.
