Your progression opportunities On successful completion, you could progress onto our Level 3 BTEC in Countryside Management (Gamekeeping), our range of T Level qualifications, or similar courses at other institutions. network of over 3,000 employers, you’ll be supported to organise a placement within an agricultural organisation that matches your career aspirations. This Level 2 course will give you a good introduction to agriculture and prepare you for Level 3 study or a T Level qualification to gain technical skills for your future career. You’ll learn how to operate farm machinery, develop your knowledge of crop and livestock husbandry, gain a fundamental understanding of the agricultural industry, and develop your practical farm and estate skills. With our commercial farm on campus, there will be plenty of opportunities to get hands-on in practical sessions. You’ll spend one day per week gaining work experience to familiarise yourself with the industry. With access to our
Apprenticeships can help you to progress your career in a new or existing role. Our livestock and arable apprenticeships provide an ideal opportunity to learn and apply your skills in the workplace, ready to take your first step into an agricultural career. You’ll spend one day per week studying at Hartpury College during term time. We’ll tailor the skills you learn to your job role and pathway. You’ll also complete qualifications in Maths and English, first aid, and safe use of pesticides as part of your course, and develop a practical evidence portfolio. Develop your skills over two years on this A-level-equivalent qualification. You’ll get hands-on preparing and cultivating sites for planting crops, harvesting and storing crops, and maintaining equipment and machines. You’ll develop your understanding of sustainable crop production, as well as important transferable skills including communication and management skills. General Farmworker Apprenticeship Level 2 You’ll gain practical skills in areas such as technology and learn to operate independently and as part of a team in this GCSE-equivalent qualification. Choose to specialise in crop or livestock production and support daily operations within the farm enterprise, maintaining and identifying issues relating to animal and plant health.
