We believe you learn best when you’re doing something practical. As an A-level, diploma or Access to HE student, you’ll see the theory come to life during field trips, study tours and plenty of hands-on activities. Here are some recent examples of the great experiences our students

OurA-level students We organise plenty of trips and activities to bring your A-level learning to life.* Here are just some examples from recent years: • Geography – fieldwork at Seaton Beach and Cardiff Bay. • Biology – residential trip to Margam Country Park and visit to Slimbridge Wetland Centre. • Psychology – industry event in Paris and revision conferences. • Physical Education – guest speakers from different areas of the sports industry. • Physics – Culham Centre for Fusion Energy and The Big Bang Fair for young scientists. • Business and Economics – trip to CadburyWorld and guest speaker from the Bank of England. • English Literature and English Language – theatre trips and a revision conference. Animal students have been enjoying trips to the CotswoldWildlife Park and Crufts. Previously, students went on the trip of a lifetime to Borneo – we hope to offer this opportunity again once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Agriculture students spend between 300 hours and one year gaining hands-on skills on local farms and our award-winning farm business on campus. Farm duties are a key part of the course, to develop practical skills for the future. Equine students have travelled toWhite Stallion Ranch, Arizona to experience western riding, and the world-famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna to see different training techniques in action. Sports students have enjoyed trips toWembley Stadium, Villa Park and the SnowDome, tours abroad to compete with other colleges, and placements with big sports brands. Outdoor Activity students spend two days a week – and Uniformed Protective Service spend one day a week (terms 2-3) – completing practical sessions. Activities include sailing, hill walking, climbing, Police team building, RAF practical days and Firefighter training.
