Get out in the field

We believe you learn best when you’re doing. As an A-level, diploma or Access to HE student, you’ll put your lessons into practice during field trips, study tours and practical activities. Here are some recent examples of the great experiences our students have been having during normal times, as part of their learning. Our diploma andAccess to HE students Animal students recently had the trip of a lifetime in Borneo. They trekked across the rainforest, cruised down the river to see monkeys and fireflies, and visited an orangutan rehabilitation centre. Agriculture students spend between 300 hours and one year gaining hands-on skills on local farms and our award-winning farm business on campus. Farm duties are a key part of the course, to develop practical skills for the future. Equine students have travelled toWhite Stallion Ranch, Arizona to experience western riding, and the world-famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna to see different training techniques in action. Sports students have enjoyed trips toWembley Stadium, Villa Park and the SnowDome, tours abroad to compete with other colleges, and placements with big sports brands. Outdoor Adventure and Uniformed Public Services students spend several days a week completing practical sessions. From sailing, climbing and caving, to police team building, RAF practical days and firefighter training, no two days are ever the same.
