A little note for parents and guardians
It’s likely you’re feeling both excited and nervous about your loved one starting university – whether we’re just down the road, at the other end of the country or across the globe. Times like this can exacerbate nerves, as they head out into a changing world, but there are also plenty of new and exciting opportunities emerging too. This is a time to feel incredibly proud. Your loved one will grow hugely over the course of their degree and, when graduation arrives, you’ll be applauding a very different person to the one who embarked on this journey years before. Enjoy watching themmature and grow, knowing that you’ve provided the foundations for their success. As they become more independent, you can help themwith their transition – small things like using a washing machine and cooking nutritious food, to budgeting and effective time management. You should check-in regularly too, but don’t overdo it. Ensure they feel supported but remember that this is their time to develop their own sense of independence and the notion of self-study that we encourage is a big part of that. We have plenty of activities happening during their first fewweeks and months here that will help them to make friends and settle in. Our student support teams are also on-hand every step of the way, to support your loved one with every aspect of Hartpury life – academic, personal and professional. Finally, Gloucestershire is among the UK’s most beautiful counties with lots of popular tourist spots and accommodation options nearby. Coming to visit can be a great way to spend quality time together, whilst enjoying everything the area has to offer. Rosie Scott-Ward Pro Vice-Chancellor, Hartpury University

This is what your term could look like, with social distancing and sanitising protocols in place, in line with the latest Government guidance.
Teaching experience You’ll still receive a minimum of 15 hours* of timetabled teaching each week in your first year via a mix of learning activities. This is significantly higher than the national average. Practical sessions Our 360-hectare rural campus provides lots of opportunities for learning in small groups outside, so you’ll still be applying theory to practice in practical sessions to strengthen your learning. We’ll deliver as much face-to-face learning as possible, including smaller group seminars, tutorials and classroom sessions.
*Degrees with significant placement and project-based modules may vary from this.

Congratulations Well done, you’ve done it! You’ve got your place and you’re coming to Hartpury University in September. We hope you’re excited to join the #HartpuryFamily and start your new adventure.
At the Heart of opportunities “With the support of the ICE team, I was able to do some amazing equine and veterinary work placements, and get the right experience and connections for my career. My tutor also encouraged me to go for every opportunity, like being our course rep and doing extra certifications, which helped me prepare for working in industry. That’s why I am where I am now.”
You’ve got an amazing year ahead of you. Gloucester city is nearby, and the Quays are packed with bars, restaurants, outlet shopping and a cinema – plus Wednesday is student night! Cheltenham is also just a bus ride away, and offers shopping, the theatre, and plenty of places to eat and drink. As we return to normal, more places are opening up for you to enjoy. You’ll be in the heart of Gloucestershire, also known as the festival county. Check overleaf to see just a few of the events that are on each year. We’ve highlighted anything that we know has been cancelled due to Covid-19. The rest appear to be going ahead, however, please do check the websites in case plans change in line with the latest government guidance. Keep safe and we look forward to welcoming you to Hartpury very soon. Hartpury Admissions team +44 (0) 1452 702244 admissions@hartpury.ac.uk
