Your finances There is no charge for tuition if you’re a UK student joining us to study a full-time course and you’re under 19 years of age on 31 August 2020. Registration and examination fees for your main qualification are also free. However, there are other costs associated with going to college, such as transport, equipment and meals. There are a range of financial support packages to help make studying affordable for you and your family. These include: Residential Support Grant – this is a means-tested grant that contributes towards the costs of living in our accommodation on campus. Please note that A-level students are not eligible. Learner Support Bursary – typically this award supports students who need help paying tuition fees or other college fees. In some cases the cost of transport, meals or essential books and equipment may be met. Advanced Learner Loan – for those aged 19 or over at the start of their course. www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan
Vulnerable Learner Bursary – this is available if you’re in one of the following defined vulnerable groups: • in care or a care leaver • in receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit in your own right • in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit and Disability Living, or Personal Independence Payments in your own right Sports bursaries We have a limited fund to help students who would otherwise be unable to attend college and who are deemed to have the potential to excel in a chosen field of sport. If you’re planning to become a residential student on a full-time sports course and believe you meet the criteria, you can apply to help cover residential fees from this fund. Every applicant must apply directly to the appropriate sports programme manager. www.hartpury.ac.uk/college-academies Free meals If you’re aged 16 to 18 you could be eligible for free school meals if your parents or those supporting you receive one of the qualifying benefits.
